The whirlwinds of reform are gathering in the coils of 2016

 

 

We, you and I, all of us, are residing in a self imposed dark age.

 

The United States is punch drunk from a raw beating administered to us by the consequences of Brown Vs Board of Education of Topeka and the New Deal, Nixon, Reagan, and Bush/Cheney.

We’re simple farm folk come from the all to quiet dark countryside into the noise of a luminous city and transformed into astronauts, tech wizards, math mavens and choirboys in a dynamic cathedral of invention creativity and fabulousness without equal in all history.

We savor fame glory success and wealth that would startle the circus masters of Egypt Rome Athens or P.T. Barnum.

Ours is a Christian society, everyone has a bible, unread, not understood and clutched to our bosom as if it were gold from the hands of God.

Thus we have given all to the four horsemen of the modern apocalypse, "the predators, of media, politics, religion and commerce."

We are certain of our exceptional place in history in the way Medieval Inquisitors were certain of theirs and we walk in the glow of heaven; never mind its just a Art Deco lamp on a Formica topped table.

We are tattooed pierced and etched like no other, obese and flabby in a way the gluttons of Nero’s Rome would have admired.

We are the inheritors of the greatest empire ever constructed: North America, just two centuries from wilderness to mega urban sprawl and cosmic noise.

We loath Barack Obama because the damn fool reminds us all to casual, just how willfully ignorant we are, and we are set to glorify Mitt Romney as the best dang white guy ever!

Details bore us, facts are kicked aside and narcissistic orgasm shines brightly.

We are not evil, we’re not even stupid, we are simply uninterested or unwilling to clean up the mess and leave our children something almost as good as what "The Greatest Generation" left us!

We will not pay the national debt or balance the budget. Let the suckers of the 2030s have that piece of pie!

We all know and we’ve known for a long time that we live not in the final debauched days of Rome. We live in the United States of America after a century of happenstance greatness now run low and fading fast.

We know the broom of reform is coming, as the pendulum of history surly moves unremittingly away from us, to a time and place of reckoning!

History is a tale of greatness squandered and recovered and lost again, the folly of societies who refuse to learn the lesson.

Licentious folk marching through a thrall of indulgence and sensation into the star chamber and finally out onto sunlit marble platform where the whip and the ax stand ready.

The pyre of hell is not distant, but will come aglow the bitterness of a new generation knee deep in our shit.

The United States will not die, we’re not that lucky, but an aggrieved generation will damn you and I and all of us as irresponsible boobs, a generation of George F. Babbitt's! 

Barack Obama in spite of himself will become a legend of rationalism and decency where’s Mitt Romney recalled as a smug self-important flim flam we held fast hoping to keep reformation and reinvention at bay.

911 will be seen in an entirely different light, as a psychotic flailing from the nations we corrupted and debased. The secret wars of Richard Cheney Donald Rumsfield and Condolezza Rice will be used as a siren call to future generations as exhibit one of a place where hubris and delusion replaced the light of reason and mercy.

The culture of leverage buyouts and arbitrage will be seen as a cancer and a warning.

The cynical invention of medical marijuana will be used as a good example of hypocrisy and self-abuse.

The Internet will be remembered as an emporium of indulgence and radical tomfoolery replacing information and wisdom.

Media will be recalled for the carnival of Newscorp and the tawdry cackle of Roger Ailes "Fair and Balanced" hooey of Fox News.

So, drink the wine of evasion and irresponsibility, savor the obscene tickle. The cold cruel slap of history is coming!

The universe has rules not to be ignored or broken. All is vanity and all is cause and effect. We are not monsters, we are simply common folk whip lashed by a time of progress too great, accomplishment too demanding and historical tragedy of world wars, assassination, corruption, and a culture where the warm river of lies and fantasy carried us away to the coming cataract of history.

In the 22d century we will be remembered as children of unappreciated affluence and magnificence squandered and cast asunder by willful perfidy and rapacious greed.     

The election of Mitt Romney will the beginning of the end of white culture, because Mitt Romney will reveal it as nothing more than a fog of lies and rejection of historical generational responsibility. The Romney Administration will be the last gasp of Nixon’s "Southern Strategy" and Karl Roves ten-cent theology of resentment of the Black Race and bald face rejection of adult obligation.

Act like fools and your children and history will judge you as fools.
